Worried about homeschooling at the high school level?

Coming from a marketing background this is how I put it into perspective:

Imagine that public (mass) high schooling is like a big newspaper. ( How many people still read a paper based newspaper? ) You casually flick through the pages, usually fairly quickly, and there is the odd article that interests you and perhaps one single advertisement that you vaguely think of acting upon in the whole paper.

This is mass media (oldschool media) and why it is slowly dwindling, it’s directly relevant to nobody and is a general, generic shot at its audience.

This is how I see the generic school system; it’s a mass presentation of what has been outlined by what seem to be bureaucrats and committees to cover as much generic information as possible. Some of it sinks in with some students because somehow at that time it’s relevant to them and they are recept able to it. However, on the whole, only a small part probably gets through to this mass audience.

On the other hand, you have your colourful magazines; these smaller packages of information are far more targeted to their particular demographic and are actually sort after, even though you pay a premium for the quality.

This is where homeschooling is. I see homeschooling the high school aged student in much the same light, where you only need to present the premium quality guidance that’s relevant to your highly specific demographic (your child).

This brings the seemingly really big undertaking to the much smaller, but better targeted and highly relevant task of teaching your high school aged homeschool student.

..For the love of learning..
