Many famous, and infamous, Wizard explorers have travelled in the Great Lost Lands for endless centuries.
Now, we no longer know where to find these lands, so, much of this history is lost.

Your task is to try to map their voyages, from the only information we have managed to glean from their various journals.

You must use these facts to create a map of what the Great Lost Lands could have looked like and mark on the map the places they visited.

You should include features such as seas, rivers, mountains, towns etc.

You must show a scale and compass directions.

Your map could be hand drawn, computer generated, an actual 3D model or whatever other way you can come up with of representing it.

Use the journal facts to get your distances and comparative positions of things as correct as possible.

Add directions eg. North, South, East, West, NE, NW, SE, SW in the brackets

(  ), to make it correct for your map.

You will no doubt have to fill in some of the blanks yourself… what you can imagine being there… but that’s how a lot of early maps were drawn, before all of the areas had been explored.

Make it colourful, magical and imaginative!

JOURNAL EXCERPTS

.... We saw the red ocean as we reached a huge clifftop, 20 km’s ( ) from Herzaldeberg. Looking down, we saw in the distance, some 50 km’s away, due ( ), The Isle of Iniquity, a dark and foreboding place, about 10 km’s long, and half as wide, almost in the shape of an arrow. It seemed to be pointing us somewhere... but was it a good omen, or bad?

... It was like we were at the bottom of the world. Standing on the Island of Eralgador, in the tiny hamlet of Peekoowie, the red ocean at our feet, we could see no further to the ( ). The horizon just blended into blackness. About 15 km’s ( ) of us, across a thin stretch of land no more than a couple of km’s, was a group of islands, tiny, but incredibly mountainous. At least one had a smouldering volcano, which spilled lava into the sea, red blending with red. And a larger dark island, The Isle of Iniquity, another 20 km’s to the ( ). We dared not venture there.

... The river was huge… gushing and foamy, and a strange purple shade. It extended all the way across the continent, from ( ) to ( ), some 900 km’s, bending and curving, cutting through areas of mountains, a huge desert, and underground for a distance of 100 km’s or more in about the middle of the continent. It journeyed through the towns of Elkwood, Blinmeld, Hemlock, Ratspawn and several small scatterings of farms and other dwellings. At one point, near the highest mountains, it turned an enormous water wheel to make power for the town nearby. Along its way, it formed lagoons, and several lakes, around which lush forests grew. From the ( ) end, cutting across towards the ( ), ending near Herzaldeberg, was another river, not as large or fast flowing, meandering mainly through plains and gently rolling hills.

... The ice cap was enormous! It covered the entire ( ) of the continent! The ice was in swirling rainbow hues, which glittered and glimmered, sparkled and shimmered in the late afternoon light. A glacier ran down, like a frozen tear, making its way ( ) as slowly as time itself. I’ve heard reports it ran down as far as Ice Hollow, and maybe even reached Moorkempt, 500 km’s away!

... In all my life I have never seen such deep ravines! Deeper even the Krell Ravine!! They cut through this island like a hot knife through butter! I’ve heard tell there are Dragons Lairs at the bottom… and I intend to find out! This morning I could see Elfbairn appearing out of the mist… and to the ( ) even the towers of Yonigull! What a place this is!

Now, write a couple of Journal Excerpts of your own, to complete your map!
