Are you looking for pet friendly holiday accommodation, such as a pet friendly rental house, cottage or apartment, where you can take your dog, cat, horse, bird or... whatever... along with you? There is a list of pet friendly rentals at the end of this article.
Is it just too difficult to find someone you trust to look after your precious pooch, or fretful cat, especially for an extended holiday? Would he miss you, or you miss him, too much, if you went without him? Or do you find the costs of boarding your pet too expensive, or the care too impersonal?
Pet friendly accommodation where your furred or feathered friend is welcome, might be the answer. Although many places do not allow pets, there certainly are some who understand the pet owners dilemma and are happy to provide a welcoming place for you both to stay.
Are you looking for a pet friendly caravan park? Or maybe a pet friendly hotel or motel? A pet friendly apartment? Pet friendly B&B? Or one of many lovely pet friendly rental houses or cottages? There are even pet friendly houseboats. And true luxury pet friendly accommodation!

Most pet friendly accommodation places allow you to have your pets inside, as long as they are clean and free of pests, but usually ask that they be kept off furniture. You will probably be required to produce a current vaccination certificate, and proof of the use of a recognised flea treatment, especially if there are other animals on the premises. Some places may require dogs to be kept outside, but often have a safe, protected place for your pet to sleep. Some have kennels, special dog runs, or wide open spaces where dogs are able to run freely. Some places welcome pets of any kind, while others limit what they will allow and sometimes have limits on size, or exclude certain breeds or noisy anti-social pets.
Naturally, you will be expected to keep your pet under control, often on a leash in certain areas, and not allow it to cause a nuisance to property, other animals, or people, and it is your responsibility to clean up after it. Some places charge an extra fee per night, or a cleaning fee, for pets.
