WHO CAN LEARN TO FLY ?

Learning to fly could be of interest to anyone who has a keen interest in all things airborne. Those with a particular interest in flying small planes would be most suitable however interest in flying other craft or following other career paths make get a good grounding by learning to fly.

In Australia you generally need to be able to speak good English, pass a basic medical exam and be 16 years or older to fly alone.



To take flying lessons, however, you can start at the age of 13-14.

Learning would start on the ground and may even involve the use of computer flight simulators until you get used to the controls involved in flying a plane.

There are many great flight simulator software packages as well as serious yoke adapters to plug into your computer for the full realistic flight control experience in your own home.

After ground based learning you would begin flying with an instructor and eventually take the controls of an aircraft.



It would then be a matter of working through flight hours and objectives toward what you actually wanted to achieve with flying.

 

WHEN

Flying lessons are available all year round, however you might need to take into consideration weather conditions as winter conditions, for example, may be less suitable to getting actual airtime.

You can learn to fly with accredited pilots all over Australia.
