WASHING MACHINES
When deciding on a washing machine, a good thing to be aware of is the government rebate offered on models with a 4 star or higher rating. Check the listing for agencies offering these rebates at the end of this article.
Washing machines are a standard household electrical item. Items like washing machines were once referred to as whitegoods due to their typically white coloured exteriors. Everyone that does their own clothes washing needs at least one washing machine.
TOP LOADING WASHING MACHINES
Top loading washing machines are the most common washing machines in households today. As their name suggest they are filled by inserting the clothes via the top of the washing machine via a lift up lid. The lid on the washing machine usually de-activates the washing cycle if opened while in operation. The washing machine dials and controls are always on the top of a top loading washer (out of the reach of children).
FRONT LOADING WASHING MACHINES
Front loading washing machines ( also called front loading washers ) are washing machines that are loaded with washing via a front opening door on the front of the washing machine. Sometimes sold in combination as a front loading washing machine and dryer, the clothes dryer would usually be situated on top of the front loading washing machine.
Front loading washing machines can not be opened during a washing cycle ( as the water would fall out of the opened door and flood the floor ).
Child proof options should also be considered when purchasing a front load washing machine.

WASHING MACHINE CONSIDERATIONS
When buying a washing machine the following should be considered:
| Washing machine types - Top load washer, Front load washer |
| |
Washing machine Volume and Weight Capacity (how much washing the machine needs to take) |
| |
Wash presets - whether it can all the clothes types that you require it to. |
| |
Washing machine control features (loads, water type, temp, timers, quick wash) |
| |
Washing machine design eg. stainless steel tub etc. |
| |
Washing machine dimensions - will it fit where you want it to go? |
| |
Washing machine sound level - does it have quiet operation or does it sound like a truck? and is this important to where you want to locate your new washing machine?
|
| |
...and of course a major consideration is the washing machine cost, but make sure that it meets your needs as outlined above before you buy a washer that is too cheap. |
You should consider using the Internet to research the type/s of washing machine that you are after and then compare prices from different online retailers and then make your ideal decision for the best washing machine for your exact needs and price.
