GPS receivers come in a variety of configurations:
IN CAR GPS SATELLITE NAVIGATION
In car GPS satellite navigation provides you with the ability to track your global position whilst in your car. Most modern in car GPS navigation have large colour displays with mapping software to show you how to get to a given location via the way points you select, or are provided by the device.

Handheld GPS receivers are GPS devices that fit easy in the hand and can be kept on-person while required to track your position or determine GPS waypoints. Most handheld GPS devices can track where you have been or at least certain points (waypoints) along the way.
