Advantages When You Buy Online
I personally categorise shoppers into two: those who prefer to shop by going to actual stores and those who prefer to just buy online. I will focus more on the online shopping because it is a phenomenon that has made it easier for people to purchase goods.
The most important thing when people buy online is convenience. Just imagine that all you have to do is turn on your computer, go to an online retailer's website, make your choice and pay for it. How much easier can shopping get?
Take an example; this online pet supplies store which I frequent whenever I need something for my dogs. I will not name the store as it is not that important. The thing is, whenever I need something, like a fresh supply of dog food or some pet medicine, I just go to their website and click on my selections. They do next day delivery (as most online retailers do) so I always get my purchases quick. Now that's one great advantage as to why I buy online.
One thing that is worth mentioning is that since I'm a repeat customer, I already have an account at that online pet supplies store. So they have a record of my purchases and they know when I last bought a pack of dog food and they can easily predict or estimate how long will it take until I need another pack. And a few days before my dog food actually runs out, they contact me either through email or phone to notify me about it. I appreciate that great service so all of my pet supplies I just buy online from them.
Whenever you buy online, there are many ways that you can pay for your purchases. The most popular forms are through credit cards and PayPal. Some stores accept cash on delivery but most prefer payments online. If you're not familiar with PayPal, well it's an online payment service and system where you create an account with them using your email and that whenever you make a purchase, instead of giving out your credit card number, you give out your email address instead. In my opinion, this is a safer way of payment since you don't tell others what your credit card number is.
Another great thing when you buy online is the number of choices that you can find for that specific product you are looking for. Let us say you want to buy a new laptop. You finally decided on one brand and model. Since there are many electronics retailers online, you can easily search for that laptop model that you want on each of these retailers websites. You can make price comparisons as well as learn about the discounts and freebies, if any, which they might offer together with that laptop. You might stumble upon a retailer offering a nice bag free when you purchase that laptop. Others may offer a USB flash disk, a screen protector or an optical mouse. Now isn't it nice that you have learned about these offerings without ever leaving your home? :)
When buying online you should make sure that the website that your are purchasing from is performing the transaction securely and usually the easiest way to recognise this is by seeing a padlock icon somewhere at the botom of your web browser, this indicates that the transaction webpage is a secure line between you and them and your information will not be able to be access by anyone else in between.
Buying online is usually the quickest way to find, research, price and buy items and often the cheapest. You should always consider looking online when you plan to buy anything of real significance, even if its just to compare features (comparison shopping) and/or prices.
