VALENTINE'S DAY GIFTS- SPECIAL IDEAS
Are you looking for something a little different for your special someone? Something that shows thought and a personal touch? Valentine's gifts don't have to cost a fortune- after all, it really is the caring thought behind the gift that counts. Of course, if you want to, and can afford it, there's nothing wrong with splurging a little either.
Below are some ideas to help you choose something that will express your true feelings to your beloved.
If your Valentine loves growing plants, why not give him/her a selection of plants that have romantic meanings? For instance, a red rose is a symbol of love, a carnation is the symbol of betrothal or marriage, a chilli pepper is a symbol of fidelity and love, a hyacinth is love, protection and happiness, and a red tulip is a declaration of love. But beware... don't give a sweet pea as that means goodbye! You could use these meanings to create a bouquet of flowers too, if you prefer. Perhaps also include a list of the plants and their meanings, so that your loved one can read the feelings you are expressing.
A search of plant meanings on the internet will provide a useful reference for more possible plants to include.
Create a romantic treasure hunt with a special little treasure at each clue (make romantic poetry clues, or something that will be special or significant to your Valentine, leading them on the hunt), ending with the "big treasure".
Make a romantic PowerPoint presentation of your lives together so far.
Be creative with an illustrated PowerPoint love poem that you wrote especially for her/him.
If you are a musician, write and record a love song just for him/her and put it onto CD as a gift.
Make a book of tear off "hug" vouchers- print pictures of people or cute animals "hugging" (great if you can get a pic of you and your loved one hugging) on small slips of paper and staple together to make a little booklet. Include instructions for use- "When you feel in need of a hug, give/send me one of these and I'll be there... arms open!" or something like that.
You could also make a "kiss" booklet... or whatever might take your loved one's fancy! :)
Make a Care Voucher Book, where each voucher contains a different caring offer that can be exchanged for that thing. For example you might offer a night at the movies, a dinner out... or in, cooking/dishes done for a week, breakfast in bed, a massage, a weekend away, a shopping spree. you can be as inventive as you like, keep within a tight budget or go wild and splurge, depending on your circumstances.
Chocolates- but for a bit of a difference and to show some personal involvement, make your own. You can get some really cute moulds, including hearts, animals, fancy shapes etc.
Use flavours and fillings you know your beloved likes best! Or try mini patty pan or freehand chocs. Coat glace fruits or nuts. Put your selection in a pretty box and tie up with a plush ribbon.
Is your loved one the outdoor adventurous kind? If so, take him/her on an adventurous outing (maybe one they have never tried before), such as hang gliding, white water rafting, mountain climbing, sky diving, hot air ballooning, bungee jumping etc.
What about a romantic book... maybe a love story novel, a great historic romance, photographs of romantic places to visit.. whatever suits your special someone's taste in reading material.
There are many ways of expressing your love with a gift, and only you can decide what would be the ideal thing to give your loved one.
With time and thought put into determining their tastes and interests, hopefully you will be able to give a much appreciated Valentine's Day gift, one that will be treasured for its forethought and uniqueness for a long time to come.
