The Home Education Association Inc., South Australian Branch, invites anyone interested in teaching their children at home, as well as existing home educators to an Exploring Approaches to Homeschooling Seminar and Curriculum Fair to be held on Saturday May 17th, at the DeafSA Centre (262 South Terrace) Adelaide.
Doors open at 8.30am and the day begins with an introduction to “Choosing the Curriculum That’s Right for Your Family” given by Linda Maher, homeschooling mother of eight and writer of curriculum materials. This will be followed by a choice of workshops focussing on the different homeschooling styles and approaches families can use: Charlotte Mason, Classical Education, Natural Learning, Unschooling, Unit Studies, Steiner influenced, and Bible-based/Discipleship approach.
You are guaranteed to be encouraged, rejuvenated, inspired, motivated, and better equipped to teach your children at home as you discover new ideas, materials and by the resources brought together at this event. There will be ‘Homeschooling At Our Place’ displays, the SA Homeschool Network Library, and a shared stall for swapping and selling second-hand curriculum.
During the afternoon there will be plenty of time to browse the Curriculum Fair between the two Question and Answer Panel Sessions, the first on Exploring Approaches to Homeschooling, and the second on getting started with homeschooling and general questions.
The Curriculum Fair offers an excellent opportunity to examine, compare, talk to authors, and save money on a great variety of home education materials from over a dozen homeschool and educational suppliers – all under the one roof!
Entry is $10 per family, or $12 per family for non-HEA members. (Home Education Association members contribute to the cost of insuring homeschool activities through their annual membership. Families who do not wish to join the HEA who participate are covered by HEA insurance and contribute by paying a nominal 'Day Membership' fee of $2).
This event presents an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded homeschoolers, meet and make new friends.
Doors close at 5.30pm.
