Are you in the market for a new car? Or perhaps you're considering buying just a used car?
Why Buy a Used Car
While a new car is definitely better, if you have a certain car model in mind, it might probably be an old model which a car dealer is no longer carrying. But don't just go to any car dealer who make promises of the best car sales in town. You will have to do a little bit more or research before you should even go near a car shop.
Take for example what happened to a friend of mine. George had always wanted a 1999 Toyota Corolla. We meant it to be just his second car because he was already driving a Subaru Outback. He wanted the Corolla for his every day city driving while the Outback was more for his out of town travels and also for his nature trips. You see, George is a nature photography hobbyist and the Outback serves him great whenever he goes on one of his trips.

Anyway, so when George decided it was time to get himself a Corolla, he went to the first used car sales dealer that he saw. If my friend ever has a fault, it's his being an impulsive car buyer. And he was very lazy too in doing some researcher first whenever he would buy anything even something as big as a car. So when George entered the store with the words 'car sales' plastered all over the establishment (which got him to notice the store in the first place), the first thing his eyes saw was this gray Toyota Corolla parked in a corner slot.
Buying a Used Car
“That's the one I've been looking for!” he quickly thought and he went to see the manager immediately. Would you believe that all the manager did was to show him the car and prepare the papers, both of which did not take more than an hour. The manager did not even have to say a line of his usual sales pitch. George made the process of car sales too easy for him.
Buying the Best Used Car
Well, all I can say right now is that my friend made a very poor decision in buying a car. The car was not in perfect running condition and George had to send it to the repair shop three times since he bought it. While I don't want to criticise the dealer for making such bad car sales, I do criticise my friend for making an less than informed car buying decision.
Tips for Buying Used Cars
Don't be like my friend. Here are some suggestions you can follow before you go to a car sales dealer:

1. Ask a friend who has knowledge in cars to help you find a reputable car dealer.
2. When you go to see the actual car, bring a friend who knows the ins and outs of a car or hire a mechanic to help you scrutinise the whole car.
3. Go visit at least three car dealers so you will have better options.
4. There are online car dealers. Visit their websites and you can know more about their car selections with your even leaving your home. |
