MOVIE SYNOPSIS
BABEL -

Armed with a Winchester rifle, two Morrocan boys set out to look after their family’s herd of goats. In the silent echoes of the desert, they decide to test the rifle… but the bullet goes farther than they thought it would.

In an instant, the lives of four separate groups of strangers on three different continents collide. Caught up in the rising tide of an accident that escalates beyond anyone’s control are a vacationing American couple (Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett), a rebellious deaf Japanese teenager and her father, and a Mexican nanny who, without permission, takes two American children across the border. None of these strangers will ever meet; in spite of the sudden, unlikely connection between them, they will all remain isolated due to their own inability to communicate meaningfully with anyone around them.

BABEL REVIEW

Babel is great piece of filmaking. Bringing a number of intriguing stories into a much bigger picture.

Both, Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett deliver an engaging performance in their highlighted part of story as American tourists who struggle to survive a possible trrorist hit.

In other pieces of the story; two Moroccan boys find themselves involved in an accidental crime, a nanny is illegally crossing into Mexico with two small American children and a Japanese teen rebel, whose father is sought by the police in Tokyo, on a voyage to discover her sexuality.

Much of the movie is pulled together through a, sometimes spellbinding, score.

While Babel might not be for everyones tastes, for those that give it a go I think you'll be rewarded with a captivating story.

Babel is well worth seeing for people who don't mind a movie that is a little disjointed.  You have to kind of put the pieces together as it goes along, and some of the relevance isn't shown until the closing stages.  Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are good, and certainly leave glamour behind in this earthy movie.  I found it excellent and enjoyed the uncertainty and intrigue!
